Epilepsy and neurological issue?

by researchib, Oct 24, 2007 01:10PM
For background, I'm 34 and take Lamictal for epilepsy (nocturnal seizures).  My eeg shows epileptic discharges in the right frontal lobe and left temporal lobe.

Over the last month, I have been waking up with my left hand bent down at a 90 degree angle with my fingers curled in and thumb straightened to my fingers. My hand is curled into my side.  It feels fine in that position until I move it and my wrist is very stiff. I haven't thought much of it, but now have noticed my hand doing it when I'm not paying attention, like when I'm watching tv.  Any time I'm doing something that doesn't require the use of my hand, it starts curling into that position unless I notice it.  My wrist and forearm are sore.

Is this related to epilepsy?  If not, could it be related to doing a lot of typing? It's only my left hand though. Any reason to be concerned about this?

Thank you,
Becca

Hi Becca,

You should let your neurologist know.

Best wishes,

Wendy
