Exactly HOW thoro is yout radiologist

by runndogs, Oct 26, 2007 06:46AM
Just wondering, exactly how many radiologists miss clearly evident lesions, and or internal complications. Is it possible to have a mri or ct scan or xray re-read?
The cost to the paitient is incredible. I have had repeated instances of missed
complications, as well has my mother. It seems as tho the actual specialist is better
to determine the diagnosis via radiology as it has been my experience.
So far I have had a misdiagnose on Mri, and ultrasound that were clearly identified by
further specialist.

You are 100% correct.
My regular doctor sent me for an MRI for lower back pain. Eventually I went to see a spinal surgeon who asked me to bring the films for him to evaluate. The lab only required a note/letter from him to produce them at no charge. His experience in reading these and obviously operating after viewing films seems to have given him a much better perspective on what the films really show.
