Unexplained eye symptoms and tingling

by prayingforacure, Oct 26, 2007 11:05AM
Hi. I am a 27 year old female suffering from eye problems and tingling sensations. I see flashes of light and spots in my vision daily. If I go into a dim room I see black spots and wavy lines in my eyes. I see bright white flashs of light randomly. I have also had a few episodes of flashing lights in my eyes that lasted 10 minutes or so before going away.(No headache followed only severe tingling in my face and arm.)  The other spots I see are usually only there a few seconds at a time.(The flashes are just like the flash you see when someone takes your picture. I see those out of nowhere all the time) I occasionally see floaters as well. I have seen several eye doctors, retinal specialists, nuero-opthamolgist all who insist my eyes appear healthy and can only assume it's some type of migraine. It is very persistant, occuring every day for 3 years now and has gotten worse over time. I do not get headaches very often. It is very hard for me to see at times because of all the spots and flashes in my eyes. (No preventitive migraine medicine they tried on me affected it at all.) I also get tingling in my fingertips.(This started at the same time as well) A buzzing sensation that last for hours at a time before subsiding. Usually it's just one finger at a time. Sometimes I get it in my wrists or calfs as well. After two MRI's and one Ct scan and numerous bloodtests my doctor is at a loss. Any ideas what I should do next? My doctor is convinced it is MS although she has no proof I have it therefore she can't treat me for it. I would really appreciate any suggestions what to get tested for or ideas as to what this could be. It's getting worse all the time making it very hard for me to function the way I used to. Thank you so much in advance.

you may be having some type of seizure.

if you haven't had one already, have an EEG test.  its usually given by a neurologist, and it monitors your brain activity while you are exposed to various stimuli.  it is simple and non-invasive, and doesn't take very long.
