complex ovarian cysts

by ariesgirl411, Oct 26, 2007 03:37PM
Hi, I wanted to post this in the gyno section but it had reached its daily limit so here goes.  I have been having progressively worsening cramping and constant pelvic pain so I had a transvaginal ultrasound yesterday.  I called today and my doc said I have two complex cysts on my left ovary.  What exactly does this mean?  She is setting up a consult for me to I guess go to some GYN (she is more womens health I believe, she does paps and everything though so not sure why I have to go elsewhere).  Now, are these things the only thing wrong with me?  I went off the pill two months ago to try and get prego and have gained about 20 pounds.  Thought I would actually loose a pound or two not gain!  And my pelvic area just really hurts all the time.  So, what does all this mean?  BTW I am only 24 so I am sure its not cancerous or anything but I do have a family history of cysts and endometriosis.  Thanks for any advice/help!!

It means that they may be able to remove the cysts themselves or remove the ovary.  There is the wait and see approach as well but it all depends on your situation. So you have options.
Note to self: Don't get test results on Fridays...I just did the same thing! I just found out i have cyst on my right one and they want to remove my ovary (found out yesterday) and I'm still a bit confused.  So just remember to ask questions and more questions.
