Would Klonopin show up in drug test as pain medication?

by LindasueDallas, Oct 26, 2007 05:55PM
I apparently failed a drug test and while I don't have the exact results yet, I was told it had to do with pain medication.  All my doctor can think that would show up in tests would be klonopin.  Could that be the reason I failed the test?

I am a former mental health nurse, Klonopin is used the way Atavin and Xanax is used for anxity.
Is it possible that at time of the drug screen you on cough medicine.

Thanks for your reply.  No, I wasn't on cough medicine...I did take 3 of my girlfriends Darvon (65 mgs) for my back pain as I've been packing, moving things and my back was killing me.  It didn't occur to me since I don't take anything but Advil or Tylenol 3 (could that do it??) for my back that the Darvon would show up but maybe that's it.  In which case, I've lost my new job and my current one ended Friday.  I'll be posting on the suicide boards next as I've never been so depressed and can't stop crying...I'm 57, have little money saved, divorced and I've sold my house and now have no job.  Sorry, this is the worse weekend of my life.  And, I know you all have chronic pain problems and this must seem like nothing...and I apologize for posting here but I didn't know where to ask the question.

Darvon is only in your system for 6-12hrs.  So depending on how long before the drug test you took the medication, yes that could very well be it.  If you had taken it a couple of days before the test, it should have been out of your system.

You said it yourself , Darvon which is a derivative of methadone. This would definitely cause you to test positive for opiates.
