by fonegirl66, Oct 27, 2007 06:25AM
PLEASE HELP ME.  ONCE EVERY SIX MONTHS OR SO FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS, I AM 41 YRS OLD, I WILL WAKE UP IN THE MORNING AND MY RIGHT EYE WILL HAVE EXTREMELY SHARP PAIN, BE RED AND WATERY, TEARS WILL POUR DOWN MY CHEEK  AND EVEN MAKE MY NOSE RUN PROFUSELY.  IF I TRY TO PUT EYE DROPS IN THE EYE, IT WILL FEEL LIKE A KNIFE IS STABBING MY EYE.  LIGHT OR SUNLIGHT WILL MAKE THE PAIN AND WATERYNESS WORSE.........IT USUALLY GOES AWAY IN ABOUT 6 HOURS OR SO BUT IS EXCRUCIATING AND ONLY HAPPENS IN ONE EYE.  I HAVE NEVER WORN GLASSES OR HAD ANY OTHER VISION PROBLEMS, I DO USE EYE DROPS ON A DAILY BASIS THOUGH AND HAVE FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS.  IT SEEMS LIKE IT HAPPENS UNDER STRESS MORE, BUT WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS AND HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF THIS BEFORE AND WHAT ADVICE CAN YOU GIVE ME? IS THERE A NAME FOR THIS?  IT REALLY HURTS AND I DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT COULD CAUSE THIS.

You didn't mention in your posts what the doctor(s) you've consulted have said.  (Surely, with about six recurrences of this problem, you've seen an ophthalmologist.  It sounds like your condition would be pretty scary.)  You don't have to start a new thread to provide this information; you can add to your post with a comment.

Your problem sounds like classic recurrent corneal erosion. (RCE). We have discussed this at length in previous posts. Use the search feature and search recurrent corneal erosion. Make an appointment with an Eye MD physician (ophthalmologist), have the Eye MD look at your eye before any drops are put in by the staff and tell the staff and Eye MD you think you have recurrent corneal erosions.
