3 years sick, severe stomach pain shaking hot flashes

by shell1322, Oct 27, 2007 12:38PM
I can go a week or more without a bowl movement.... I get really really sick. Severe stomach pains, gas, diarrhea, I get really hot and then i start to shake really bad, it kinda feels like my body is going into shock due to the severe stomach pain. I've been sick for almost 3 years. At least once a week, sometimes everyday for a month. I also, rarely, get this dizzy feeling. I can't move... I don't feel like I'm going throw up, but it feels like I just got off a carnival ride and I will feel like this all day. This interferes with my life. I'm afraid to go to the store because I'm afraid I'll get sick. I don't go anywhere.  It happens very suddenly. I will feel perfectly fine and then I'm in severe pain. Please help me... I'm tired of being sick. Its also taking its toll on my marriage. Sometimes I think my husband thinks I'm faking it because I get sick SO MUCH.

Time to see a gastroenterologist. Maybe something simple but if it is interfering with your life so much, you need to get a proper diagnosis and treatment.
Liz.

I changed my diet, no more fast food, no more sugar, all veggies, yogurts (activia) and fruits, a little bit of meat altho I'm not a big meat eater, and I've  been feeling much better . I don't feel all bloated and tired and my stomach just feels normal again. BUT there has been times where i feel perfectly normal but it never lasts so we will see what happens, if i get sick again with no explanation then I will go see a dr.

I have symptoms similar to yours.  I have been sick like you for almost three years.  I have severe weight loss.  I am 5'7" and currently weigh 97 pounds.  I have seen gastroenteronologists, neurologist, etc.  I am miserable.  I will go up to two week without a bowel movement and when I finally go a little bit I get sweaty and really sick.  Also have been having episodes where I get symptoms such as food poisoning, my las episode was on Oct. 3rd 2007 where I vomitted for over 28 hours.  I am in and out of the hospital, the doctors had been supplementing my food in take with TPN, which is IV nutrition via a central line in my chest.  The pattern had been that I do this type of IV until I get a serious blood infection, then they take the device out, I go along a while and then my weight gets dangerously low again and the process starts all over.  This went on until April of 2007 when I got s strept infection in my blood, which damaged my heart valve, so that is no longer an option.  I recently had to stop working and am now on disability.  I can't even sit up without so much lower back pain and fatigue.  The only position I am comfortable in is the fetal position.

I can totally sympathize with you.  My husband is sick of me too.  But I know this is real.  The doctors just keep ordering all these awful tests that make me feel worse and don't really get to the bottom of what is causing this.  I am so sick and scared.  I have two small children and I am worried something is really wrong and they just haven't figured it out yet.

Have you had any luck with finding anything out for yourself??

I would appreciate any comments you have or knowing what the doctors have told you through the time you have been ill.

All the best to you,

Well I've never been to the doctors. I'm afraid of what they will say so I put it off and put it off... But I've changed my diet I eat healthy cerial, like special k, or raisin bran crunch, you know something good for ya but doesn't taste awful. I eat that 2 times a day breakfast and lunch, sometimes even dinner, I've also been eating activia everyday, and for dinner if its not cerial I'll eat veggies. squash cabbage zuccinni with a little butter salt and pepper, or spaggetti (sorry bout the spelling) anything thats not total junk. I've also cut sodas out except for sprite and no candy(I'm a sugar junky) and I've been feeling pretty good for about 2 weeks now. I'll keep you updated... I'm so sorry you are having to deal with all of that. I couldn't imagine. My husband was really sweet for about a year, then he just gets annoyed when I get sick. It's not really a big problem between us but I do think he thinks I'm just faking it.. My mom tells me it could be due to stress, and I'm like... "well how do you make something you create stop" she insists that I create my sickness and it frustrates me because I know that emotions can cause really negative health.... I have OCD so I'm always fixated on something and driving myself crazy all the time. I'm totally open to the idea that I make myself sick in this way. I don't know if that makes sense? Anyway I'm here if you need someone to talk to.

My 79 year old mother is experiencing some of the same sypmtoms. Over the years, GI pains have come and gone but this year it's hit hard. She has now been sick for over a year with chroinc pain, 24, 7. Lives on vicodine and morphine. Done all tests, endoscopy, colonoscopy, MRI, CAT scan... etc. and NOTHING. She has awful constipation, pain with eating, and constant dull pain in her stomach and down to her left sides. We are all exhausted from dealing with this unknown illness. Please tell us if someone has found something that has helped.

So much human suffering.

If allopathy is not helping you have u guys considered ayurvedic? ayushakti usa in new york city could be consulted.

these things could be allergies.
Do a google search on "SCENAR" and "SCOTT MUMBY SCENAR" device.

Scenar is a biofeedback device.

Sorry I haven't responded. I've been feeling pretty good lately. I cut fast food (Which was pretty much all I ate) out of my diet I've been eating activia and real food. I ate fast food last week and stopped eating activia and I felt horrible! So it's final. It's my diet. As long as I don't eat a bunch of **** and I have to watch how much sugar I take in as well I feel a lot better. When I stopped eating activia My stomach went all nuts again. It really does help. I don't really like yogurt, but I forces myself to eat it all in about 2 big bites ;) because I know it makes me feel better. I'm sorry I'm not much help to anyone. I hope everyone gets well. I'll keep checking this page to see if anyone has commented. Happy Holidays btw!  Oh... yea.. I'm not going to say that I'm totally better. Everyone once in awhile I will feel sick and sluggish and the pain can just... put me to my knees.... but I"m not getting sick as often. I'll try to keep up on the updates.

Hi Shell,

I was diagnosed with gastroparesis 4 years ago after being accused of having an eating disorder and being told by doctors to "see a psychiatist"....don't give up- you need to go to a specialist and do research yourself.  I just created a little website about my experience and things I have learned in the past few years.  good luck.

I was experiancing almost exactly your symptoms and I also went off fast food and felt much better. I later found out the way to feel better all the time. I had want is called a celiac problem. Doctors have a hard time diagnosing this problem so many people go thru life thinking they have to deal with intestinal problems, aches and pains, and sometimes painful unexplained rashes. A lot of people lose weight but I gained weight
