Anhidrosis

From everything I read, I have anhidrosis.  Up until about 4 years ago, I perspired profusely.  I was active, as in tennis, racquetball, golf, etc.  At that time, at 58 years of age, I snapped an achilles tendon which took me out of sports for a year or so.  It was a couple of years later, when I realized that I did not sweat - not at all.  Then I discovered that any exertion in the sun, and I became very weak, nauseous.  My face would turn red, flush and feel very hot.  While I can walk on a treadmill for 45 minutes at 3 mph inside, I would experience the same symptoms anytime I exert at a level that would have normally caused perspiration.   My only control is to stay out of the sun and avoid golf, tennis, etc., etc.  It's a pretty rotten lifestyle.  I have taken ritalin for ADHD for 15 years.  I also take Zocor for cholesterol, allopurinol for gout and omeprazole for stomach.  I have also been diagnosed with psoriasis in small patches around my face and hairline.  I am a veteran and utilize the VA hospital for medical treatment.  They have listened, but don't seem to place much priority on the inability to sweat.

Is there anything you can suggest that might get the sweat glands working again?  I read about horses with anhidrosis, and some of them were treated with potassium chloride.  I'm wondering?

did you get a pet scan or ct scan done yet?

I did have a ct scan ordered by an endocrinologist, but the only report I received was "nothing found".  Since I posted this initial comment, I have also been diagnosed as having aortic stenosis (medium severe to severe) and am now scheduled for a cardiologist visit. I am back now, looking for any possible link between Anhydrosis and aortic stenosis.

Hello. I suffered from anhydrosis for about 2 years.I found that having certain vitamin deficiencies may cause your condition. Try vitamin B12, biotin, and folic acid (vitamins effecting the nervous sytem). Hope that will help you.
