post bypass surgery

by Sandi827, Oct 28, 2007 10:04AM
I had triple bypass & repair of the mitral valve 4 weeks ago.  My biggest problem has been persistent nausea.  I was taking anti-nausea meds which helped then went to the patch behind the ear, which also worked.  I am not on any right now but my morning after getting up is symptoms of nausea, hot and cold.  I am on a beta blocker, Coreg to keep my heart from working too hard during recovery.  I am wondering if the nausea is a common problem.  I don't have much of an appetite either - but it normally gets somewhat better as the day goes on.  Has anyone experienced the same symptoms?  I am a 60 year old female who has been pretty active as I was still working a full time job.  I just want to feel normal again!

Hi Sandi,
I am 35 and had open heart Nov 7th 2007. I had trouble eating for many weeks after but it seems that week to week you change, you get stronger with the pains and aches just go away. I was told by my doc that I could have discomfort for up to 1 year. I do notice some memory problems, a few people in cardiac rehab have the same thing.
Hope this helped.
