Breast lump

by wmac, Oct 28, 2007 01:01PM
I havent been on here for a while but, I have been going to a surgeon for almost a year now for a couple of lumps.  I had a mammo here in my home town they couldnt find anything. Told me to come back in three months but in the mean time I heard too many stories of that then the women had breast cancer. So I went one step further had my doc refer me to a specialist so I have been going to here since last december. I had a diagnostic mammo and ultra sound found nothing my breast are too dense so I need the physical exmas more. But when I went to the surgeon the first time she found a different lump that me and my doc didnt feel. so I have been having it checked every three months. Saw her last june and she said one more visit just to be sure. So I went to her on friday and she says she doesnt think its changed, however I think it may just a bit but you know when you feel it often your just not sure. So she decided that we should do a core biopsy just to be sure she said im really hard to exam due to the dense breast tissue and im lumpy. so this lump has been there for a year now more than likely its not bigger but when I feel it it is really freaking me out now cause its a definate lump. Im really nervous. However she said that cancer does one thing for sure gets bigger and harder. So she is doing the biopsy just so we know which I know is a good idea but im really nervous and I havent been this nervous about this till now. Of course Im only thinking of the worst. The biopsy is not till the 6th of Nov. She said oh we can do it nov 28 when I come back up here. (she comes once a month to my clinic a 100 miles from her practice). Im like no ill come to the city and have it done sooner. But its still not soon enough.

I understand your fears....the worst thing is not knowing.  If she was willing to wait until the 28th when she came back, she is not overly concerned.  That is a good sign.  I won't tell you not to worry...I know you will...but try to stay as busy as you can so you don't think too much.  Remember...most lumps are benign.
