Natural Progesterone and the birth control pill

I'm on the brith control pill Levlen 28. Is it okay to take natural progesterone at the same time for PMS relief? I've read that it's ok, but most articles say only to take the 7 days before your period. I want to make sure it doesn't reduce the effectiveness of the pill. Thank you.
