schizophrenia undifferentiated

by katkinso5, Oct 28, 2007 01:40PM
my son is 23 and has been diagnose with undifferentiated schizophrenia, he was in a state hopsital for 3 months, i am not sure of what all test they ran, i do know he has an assestment and evaluation, no CAT scan was done, the meds they prescribed are zoloft 200mg in the a.m., seroquel 200mg a.m, seroquel 600mg p.m. , trazodone 100mg at bed time, klonopin 0.5 mg for anxiety, he has anxiety attacks being around people.  when he was released form the hospital the people he moved in with did not follow through with appt or meds, by the time he moved in with me he hadn't been on his meds since march,  in a months time i have gotten him to all the necessary appts, and he is now back on his meds 5 days now,  my son mentioned to the doctor who put him back on the meds that all these meds make him unable to function that he is too tired,  the doctor did not reduce the strength, he said since they were working fine in the hospital we won't change them...i  had all but one filled, i got free samples for the seroquel which would of cost me 800.00 to have filled, the pharmasist said all the meds can be cut in half, but even giving the 50mg of the seroquel makes him tired all day,  not wanting to get out of bed, he just doesn't have any emotions or appears not to, i am trying to help my son, neither one of us wants him to be a zombie, he is able to work, what can i do for him, what do you suggest for his anxiety besides meds, only given to him when he needs them, not everyday...I read something about amino test, he eats alot of sweets

try www.****.com  it may help some. If he does not get better try a sleep study I've had my experiences of being misdiagnosed. The zombie part is having to much meds in his system I slowly by quarter took mine down I don't suggest it but i done great and could function I took it down a quarter if I was still doing good in 2 or 3 months i cut the dosage another quarter. I can't suggest this but it worked for me. Sincerely huneybee41

Sounds like he probably needs a different dr if this one won't listen.  Being zombified on meds is absolutely no fun.  It's miserable.
