alright what going on everyone? I'm new here....anyway for about a lil over 2 and 1/2 months now I noticed a severe change in my voice and tightness around my throat maybe? I don't know about the tightness but definietly the change of my voice! It sounds horrible....it like a voice that nobody wants to be around now! I don't know what caused this but it started around the time I got my nose pierced and started taking a medicine called Risperdal....do these things have anything to do with it?

it just that my voice sounds nothing like me and it will not go away! I'm freaking out like a basket case...

Thanks if you came in here...for about 2 1/2 months now....I had a change in my voice really bad and I can't breathe as good as I could before this too....it sitll hasn't gone away yet! I'm very concerned and this is tkaing over my life completetly! I don't want nobody to hear the wayi sound now cuz it sounds nothing lie me....and it feels like what's affecting my voice and bretahing is down at the bottom of my throat or in my vocal cords? It's I think maybe flem ya know my spit....but it's been tsuck there for 2 1/2 months so could it still be that...it won't move unless I really hard try to clear my throat but seconds later it comes back......I went to a ENT specialt and they don't help just say it acid reflux or allergies and it ain't neither neither medicine is working...I will be seeing him again Nov.1st but nothing is helping i'm worrie dthey won't find out what is wrong..I can't live with my life like this at 21 years old...it's taking my life away! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! It just won't go away! Thanks again and if it is flem how do I get it out of my voice box or where I breathe it just feels stuck there...I have to drink hot tea and then clear my throat really bad for some of it to go away but then it never really does it come right back? I don't know how to describe it but it the most horriflying and annoying thing I ever went though in my life!!! Any help would be appreciated greatly! what is it? and why won't it go away after so long 2 1/2 months! What should I try or do and what is it?

is it post nasal drip
sinus infection
upper respiratory infection
etc. i'm really worried and I know for sure it ain't acid reflux or allergies

acid reflux is the ENTs answer to anything.

Get a second opinion, someone that knows how to use an endoscope (kind of like reading, for you and I) and you may want to look into an SLP.  Some SLPs also use endoscope etc.

I just found out on the barium swallow I had Persistent deep supraglottic laryngeal penetration

what is this and do I have Dysphonia? I'm really worried I sounds so terrible! It feels like this is a bad nightmare I can't wake up from!

Speech Language Pathologist, they can assist in both the swallowing issue and the speech. Good Luck

could I have Spasmodic Dysphonia? I really hope not i'm goi9ng crazy and here and really worried! It feels so uncomfortable and unusual....it's drving me crazy! Also when I raise my voice or try to change it I sound so terrible sounds nothing like me and feels and sounds like i'm straining my voice!!! Plz I need to know what's wrong this is ruining my life!!!! Do i have Spasmodic dysphonia and can the medcine Risperdal cause this!? It is ruining my life! Thanks

You really need to see a Speech Language Pathologist. One: I could not tell you what you have, I am not a Speech Langauge Pahtologist. Two: I would have to hear your voice issues to make an assesment....   that is like asking you to describe my eye color, without ever seing my eyes.

So see a specialist. Don't think I do not have compassion for you. I do, my mother has an essentially tremor (which is genetic) She has voice problems too. I already have a hand tremor, & if it manifests itself in my voice one day...  I will have to deal with it then.

It sounds an awful lot like your nose piercing introduced an infection into your sinuses, and that the infection is not severe enough to cause full-blown sinusitis, but enough to cause post-nasal drip, which is infecting your tonsils.  I have found a way to make saline irrigation successful, and I will make it available to you after I get a new e-mail account.  In the meantime, put 3 teaspoons of salt into a quart of water, and use it to gargle every hour, and see what difference it makes.
