Disinfecting warts?

by wondering931, Oct 29, 2007 07:03AM

Dear sir,

I have suffered from common hand warts off an on for over a year. They are all gone now and that doesn't pose a problem.

However, during that time (10 weeks ago), I had them treated with Sacylic Acid and beneath band-aids which - due to a bad habit - used to discard on my carpeting around the trash bin.

Fearing that the virus might have infiltrated the carpeting (I would also throw disposable gloves that I worn with my wart-infected hand around the bin), I was wondering if this area can pose a health-risk to me and my family? I was not able to find any documents regarding the longetivity of the Papilloma lifecycle outside its host.

Should I use any type of special detergent to clean the carpet?

Thank you again for addressing this query,
