medication side effects

Call me crazy, but the pain I've experienced this past year has been so unrelenting, intolerable and life-altering, that I would put up with just about any "side effect" from a medication (short of allergic, anaphalactic, or severe) if my two great doctors thought that it could help me. A little nausea, ankle swelling, or weight gain??? C'mon...

"A little nausea, ankle swelling, or weight gain". Amy, they didn't say it was just a little bit. It might be as incapacitating as the original symptoms. Also, i tend to feel that if I'm getting a lot of bad side effects from a drug, I might be helping a symptom, but hurting my body in the long term. After a while with this illness, it all becomes a judgement call on what combination of things to try and what side effects to put up with. Personally I get so sick from meds (we've developed family jokes about it), that I don't take any...and I've been improving over time with other stuff...so that's what works for me.
