Topotecan

by Terrin2, Oct 29, 2007 12:54PM
Can you tell me if there is a standard treatment for Topotecan?    I am on once a week for three weeks and off one.   For eg.  the carbo/taxol is 6 to 8 rounds.  How many cycles or rounds would Topotecan be?   I know some people get treatment 5days on and than 3 weeks off.

Also,  I understand there is a trial for Topotecan in pill form for OVCA.  It has already been approved for Lung cancer.    Any word that you may have heard on the status of this?

Hi There,
I believe I answered this in another post. I would add here that there is no standard number of cycles of chemo. What we do is re-evaluate after 2 to 3 cycles with a CA 125, or exam, or xray to assess the response to the chemo therapy. If things are shrinking, one would usually then give another 2 to 3 cycles and re-evalaute again. Sometimes side effects can limit treatment as well.
take care
