Hpv from child birth??

by angelbaby2005, Oct 29, 2007 01:11PM
The girl I've been seeing has just been diagnosed with hpv. Worried I may have this i went and got a blood, urin, and pap done. Everything came back fine!!! But about a year ago wile we broke up she had a "one night stand" with some guy, and about 4 months ago she had her baby boy. Well she told me that its possibe to contract hpv through child birth. This may be true but everywhere i looked i've found nothing on this. So my question to you, is it possible that can you get hpv from vaginally delivering a baby?

Does she have hpv as in external genital warts or hpv as in an abnormal pap test result/hpv + test from her cervix?

You are very unlikely to contract hpv thru the instruments used in childbirth. They are all sterilized in between uses ( most are disposable in the US nowadays even which is no risk ).

There is a terrific hpv board over at www.ashastd.org for more info on hpv.

You have probably already been exposed to HPV.  Approx 80% of women by the time they are 50 have been exposed.

Your gf cannot get HPV through child birth.
