strep throat or tonsillitis

I am a 35 year old female. I still have my tonsils in. In July I had a sore throat that I didn't bother with because I decided it was a virus. About nine days into it, I asked my boss/family doctor to do a throat swab. She looked at my throat, did a swab and did a rapid strep test at my request. It came out positive. I had immense problems with swallowing due to pain and after three antibiotics did not help, she sent me to an ENT, who put me on Clindamycin 300 mg qid with food.  That helped but we never followed up to make the infection cleared.

About two weeks ago, I started having similar symptoms again. This time I got to a doctor with it early on. The rapid strep was negative and so was the traditional throat swab. She put me on Amoxil 500 mg TID first but that did not seem to be helping so she switched me to Clindamycin which I could not stand. She checked my throat again last thursday and said it looked better but was still sort of red. On Saturday it started to get very sore again. Today my temp has been ranging about 99.2 to 99. 5. It is extremely sore on one side. When I look at it with a flashlight, I see a massive amount of redness at the back, what looks like a whitish wart on the rt. tonsil and a slightly enlarged lt. tonsil. I am wondering if anyone has had similar symptoms and what it was? I am going to fd tomorrow to be checked out. I have not had throat issues since i was a kid and now I have had it off and on since august.

Well we know it is not strep u tested negative for that. The next question is...  what is it? Oh the doctor doesn't know but figured throwing a plethora of antibiotics at you should do the trick!?  Makes total since.

Brought my son to a doctor some time back. Doctor says, "Oh he has a cold, so give him this antibiotic..."

Question: A cold is viral based, why would you give him an anitibiotic?

Answer: Who is the doctor, me or you.....  

Answer: Apparently me....
