Suboxone + Libido + low level depression

by Clemulus, Oct 30, 2007 05:34PM
That is some Topic I created!

Anyway, let me explain.  I just 'celebrated' my 1 year anniversary on Suboxone.  That drug is a life saver.  Starting Buprenorphine was the smartest thing I have done in a long time but more so that I found a doctor who was 'cool' and was actively involved in learning about Suboxone and keeping up with the latest info on this treatment.

However, I thought six months ago my sex drive would have come back after a few years of opioid addiction.

My Doctor prescribed Wellbutrin last month as he said there have been reports of Wellbutrin having a positive affect on the libido.  Not to mention my therapist (which was the Doctors requirement to be in his Suboxone treatment) who wanted me to start taking an anti-depressant for months.

Unfortunately, this has not help me or my low level depression.  It actually is making me feel worse.......I feel more anxious...hard to explain....more flat than before.  And no improvement in the 'desire' deparment.  Therapist recommended maybe Zoloft or Celexa (sp ?) instead of Wellbutrin.  I think I agree I don't want to take Wellbutrin anymore but I don't think those two drugs will have any positive effect on the libido.  Anyway, back to the Doctor tomorrow for my monthly visit.

Anyway, starting Buprenorphine was the smartest thing I have done in a long time but more so that I found a doctor who was 'cool' and was actively involved in learning about Suboxone and keeping up with the latest info on this treatment.
