still no diagnosis yet-ataxia?

by corkmt2003, Oct 30, 2007 07:47PM
I am 29 yr old, and have this "off balance " problem for 2-3 years now. and still have no answer. I've had an ENG (with caloric), EMG, MRI (brain +spine), hearing test, vision test, Rotary chair test and all routine blood work etc. So from all these they only found a small downbeat nystagums (which is normal in some pateinets anyway). But the symptoims are there all day, regardless of excersize and diet. No meds have worked (meclizine, valium, and 4 amino-pyrideine). No previous viral infections, no alcohol, drugs etc. Basically I have an off balance sensation most always in the forward and back motion. If i stand with eyes closed, It will feel as if someone is slowly pushing me over forward or back and i would simply fall over if i didn't correct it. And when i sit down and relax, i can feel my head move back and forth really fast and rythmic. It sometimes feels like it follows my heartbeat, and also it seems my eyes also feel as if they twitch slightly with my heartbeat. So i have no idea and also tried chiropractor and acunpuncture with no help. If i literally hang my head down to the floor, the rush of blood to my head does seem to may my vision crisp up and i almost feel normal. But sit me in a chair and my head and upper body sways, and while standing and walking it sways more exaggerated. i have never passed out. I saw an ENT doc, who thought maybe a cerebellum ataxia? but the 4-amino-pyridine drug for MS folks, made my whole body tingle and it didn't help my symptoms/ So if anyone has any suggestions to which direction to look i woudl greatly appreciate it. any guesses please....
