Dry Cough 2 months

For two months now, ive had a persistant dry cough. A month and a half ago I went to my GP and was given a blood test (fine) and an x-ray (clear). They gave me zithromax but it didnt help. I went back a week later and they gave me some kind of medicine that might counteract Gastro-intestional disease, but that had no help. They heard me wheezing when i breathed in, but nothing else was reported.

I went to an ENT doctor a week ago, and he scoped down my nose and into my throat and found nothing. He gave me a prescription for claritin.

I still have been persistantly dry coughing. I never cough while asleep, or while I lie on my back. When I cough, it is a strictly dry cough. the left part of my chest (under my breast) is sore when i press on it, and it hurts when i cough sometimes. the right part of my chest at the top is not as sore, and doesnt hurt as much when i cough. I am a 22 year old man and have never smoked, nor do my parents or anyone at home. I have no other symptoms besides the fact that I havent been eating too great cause im nervous about what the hell is going on. No weight loss tho, no fever or anything out of the usual besides this damn cough.

I just need to know what my next step should be... (pulmonoligist?) I have been congested throughout the duration of this dry cough, but not like a runny nose. But nothing comes up when im coughing. Im wondering if this is post nasal drip because ive been (sorry for the layman's term) hawking a lot of loogies. they are white, no green or yellow color. please help im sick of coughinggggg.....

OMG, I have the exact same symptoms.  I have gone to the doctor several times, and he is unable to find anything wrong with me.  I didn't get scoped, but I did get X-Rays.  However, I do have bad post nasal drip, which my doctor says causes dry coughs. He prescribed nasonex, which has helped with the nasal drip, but I still have the same cough and sore chest.  Let me know if you find anything else out.  I do have allergies, so I'm wondering if that is part of the problem.  Let me know if you find anything out, my email is ***@****

A professor from Mississippi (Readers Digest "May" issue) had years ago been given a skin ***** allergy test that was positive. She suffered for years with what she thought were allergies. Medications rarely worked.

Bottled water was all that was needed to end the coughs not tons of drugs, hours in the doctors office along with hundreds of dollars.
After starting bottled water in their juices etc. or buying it all ready for drinking our very small for a 3 year old was 90% cured, our very large for a 6 year old was 100% cured. Eight years later we have to watch out for chlorine other places like school , grand parents and friends homes etc.
100 % cure came for our 3 year old came when we moved to a bran new home that has it's own well water with of course chlorine free water.
Keep in mind they were coughing for 10 months. The 3 year old severe coughing. So much it tooks hours every night for her to fall asleep. Her doctors thought she was developing asthma and were treating her with antibiotic and asthma drugs many times over during the ten month ordeal. Funny huh... all they needed was chlorine free water... what a lot of wasted drugs, money, time and agony for my children.
Look it up in library medical books. I found a book describing how chlorine effects humans in test results. and the symptoms were the same as what my children experienced. Good grief, why did my kids have to suffer so long! Why couldn't the doctors figure it out! Why did I have to figure it out on my own! My children must be extra sensitive to chlorine. Surely they can't be the only ones with this sensitivity.
Just think how sick they would of been had they been infants drinking formula with chlorine water in it. Or plain water with chlorine in a bottle. They would of been in the hospital or worse.
How may other could be out there right now suffering.
Get the news out please. Maybe our suffering can help others stop the suffering.

Have you found anything out yet from any doctors?  I have the same symptoms, and I've been prescribed 4 prescriptions (antibiotics, allergy, sinus) and nothing works.  Mine has been persistent for almost 3 months now.  Exact same symptoms as yours.
