fat after breast reduction

my wife started to gain weight around her middle and thighs after having a breast reduction,could this cause the fat in these areas to pick up since she had the extra fat removed from her breasts.

The simple answer to this is that the breast reduction has not caused this situation.  The gain is from increased caloric intake or reduced caloric expenditure or both.
