No Protine Fast

by Tides4fun, Nov 05, 2007 10:26AM
I have started a fast with my church and I do not like the protine alternatives that are offered such as beans and nuts.  I have been eating no protine and it is a 21 day fast and I am wondering if this is going to pose a problem healthwise?  I am very overweight and have dropped 10 lbs since the 1st which I am not complaining about at all but want to make sure I am not causing real harm to myself by not having any protine at all and if protine is necessary, how little can a person live on and be ok?

first, please spell it correctly.  it's protein :)

second, please give details of the fast.  usually fasts are either no food but liquids or nothing but water.  i'm confused that you're being given protein choices like beans and nuts.  what are you fasting from?  are you just going vegetarian for a few weeks?

Don't do such a thing as stopping eating protein all at once! I think it causes gout - but I do remember it's not a thing you want to happen at all, the body's not used to it. I also hope you don't mean ALL protein from ALL foods (just meat, right?) - because you need 35-55g of protein each day or you can suffer serious affects! Talk to a doctor/nurse, fitness person, chef, etc before doing such a thing

ur body can live with less protein then 35-55g a day because my little girl is on a ketoginic diet and its only 7g a day very low sugars and carbs. but high in fats your brain adapts and learns to live of the fats ur body takes in

To: no protein fast
you need to pray, pray, pray,  If your fasting you should be in heavy prayer. It's good to have lost 10 pounds, you will have more energy, and feel better. If your doing a Daniel's fast, then you should have no meats, no bread, no rice, no dairy, eggs, cheese, and no sweeteners.
You should have water, fruits, and vegetables. If you do not have health problems, then you should be fine, otherwise you should talk to your Dr. God will bless you and make you healthier if your fasting for the right reasons. Pray about it and you will know what to do.
God loves you have faith....

Well, I believe it is prudent to consult a medical doctor or a naturopathic physician or a professional nutritionist before dieting or fasting for long periods. There are too many things that can happen with a crash diet. There are many different diets and exercise plans, all with a plus and a minus. But there are some real hazards in some diets, and they are often promoted without anyone taking a good look at the special needs of the pertson who needs to lose weight. People with weight issues, for example, often have metabolic problems, and should take a thyroud function test before even considering a diet. You need professional one-on-one advice and a full medical work-up.
