Problems after urethral cancer (female)

by himhan, Jan 11, 2007 12:00AM
I am a two year survivor of urethral cancer.

I never really feel good since I had all the surgery, chemo and radiation. 4 months ago I had a Hernia repair that required opening the abdomen incision again to do a mesh repair.

I never really feel good.

I have days that are better than others.

Living with a urostomy and all the other minor problems I now have after these kinds of surgerys has been difficult to get back a quality of life you remembered before all of this happened. I get really tired and my whole body aches. Arthritis in my pelvic area and knees keeps me from doing alot of things I use to enjoy. I feel like a 90 yr. old woman in a 48 year old body. They say I am young to have had this.

I suffer from bowel prolapse in the vagina due to the lack of organs keeping my intestines from falling into the vaginal canal.

Is this the best I can expect to feel?

I try to exercise,eat well,take vitamins etc.

I mentally want to feel better but is definitely a challenge getting there.

Any suggestions or encouragement is appreciated.

Thanks,
