Connection between Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension and a temperature?

by enchanted_soul, Nov 05, 2007 07:51PM
I've been diagnosed with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension aka Pseudo Tumor Cerebri.  My past treatments have included several spinal taps and medications.  Currently I'm taking Zonegran, Methazolamide, and Furosemide for this.  These three seem to help control the horrendous headaches that I get most of the time.  However, off and on over the last year, I also have an unexplained lowgrade temperature.  It runs between 99.0 and 101.5.  This time, it has been a duration of at least a month.  I also have an elevated white blood count.  I do NOT have any other symptoms of any problems whatsoever or any other pain.  I have read and done research about this seemingly rare condition and have come across others who also run this lowgrade temperature.

I've spoken to *my* Neurologist about this and he doesn't think there is any connection.  I don't agree. I've also seen my PCP who isn't sure what the cause is.  So, my question is, what is the connection?  Why do I have this temperature?  Is it something to be concerned about?  Do I need an antibiotic?  Should I possibly have another spinal tap/lumbar puncture?  Anyone else have this symptom too?

Any answers/replies would be appreciated.
