Lasting Haematuria

by massieuk, Jan 24, 2007 12:00AM
Am new member and i hope there's someone out there who can help me with my long lasting urinary problems,

i have diagnosed with microscopic haematuria 7 months ago, my doctor send for some tests: Urine test (comeback normal apart from blood) all blood tests including blood culture results comeback normal and negative, ultrasound test didn't show any abnormalities in the kidneys,

my doctor suspected an infection somewhere in the kidney, prostate or bladder, he put me on antibiotics treatment for 2 weeks (Ciprofloxacin 500mg) after couple days of taking the antibiotics i felt lots of improvements, it did clear few symptoms i had before , like dysuria, nocturia, pain during urination, pain in middle back (just under the ribs), fever and chills. All those symptoms cleared except from blood its still showing in the urine.

Am i missing something?

please help

I had all the same symptoms as you had.  Mine started last Thanksgiving with one UTI which cleared up with antibiotics.  When I went back for a urine check it still showed blood in the urine.  I had a sonogram, cycstoscope, blood tests and all came back as normal except for the microscopic blood in the urine.  The technical term is Benign familial hematuria.  My sister and my 15 year old daughter also have it and is is hereditary.  Hope this helps.

I have had the same problem I got a uti on 26th March and since then the infection has cleared up with antibiotics but the blood is still there. I'm getting tests done at the hospital next week. Ultrasound x-ray urine and blood test and cystoscopy. It's funny you should mention that as my daughters urine looks similar to mine and am wandering if hers may have traces of blood in it, shes 6 years old. Would it be worth getting hers tested??
