Cytotec (Misoprostol) after D&C

I had a M/C at 9 weeks and had a D&C on 10/31. I’m had been experiencing a lot of cramping in lower abdomen along with lower back and upper legs (although seems to be less today). I am still passing clots as well. I went in for a f/u ultrasound and due to my uterus being tilted they Dr say’s they may not have removed all of the tissue. He has prescribed Cytotec (Misoprostol). Is this normal? It this something that is definitely needed or will the tissue pass naturally?
