Drooler with Positive ENA-No Sjornes?

by worrywartboo, Nov 09, 2007 01:24PM
I recently went to see a neurologist because of stinging pain, tingling and numbness over my hands and feet and muscle spasms (twitching) all over my body.  Sometimes I can feel the stingy pain in my jaw, kneck and shoulders and running down my arms and up my legs.  I also have a hard time keeping my feet and hands warm. I had a positive ENA, but I was negative for everything else including no MS lesions; Negative ANA, Negative rhuematoid factor, Negative ANCA, Negative RPR-R, Negative for Lime Disease, Negative for HIV 1 and 2; Negative for Hepatitis and my vitamin B levels where within the normal range.  There were some other things that were only slightly out of the reference range such as Alpha 2 Globulin (H 1.0); Gamma Globulin (H-1.6); Hemoglobin (LO-13.1); MCHC (LO-32.4); RDW (HI-14.7); MPV (HI-9.7) A/G Ratio (LO-1.09).

The neurologist mentioned sjogren's syndrome and I am going to see a rheumatologist.  I do have very dry eyes.  However, they became dry after lasix surgery.  I am thirsty all the time, but, at the same time I am a heavy night drooler.  I drool so bad that it pools in my ears.  I have been a heavy drooler ever since I was hit by a bottle and had over 400 stitches in my face.  I have a cyst in my sinuses and often get a lot of yellow gunk that eventually takes care of itself.  My nose is always running.  My MRI showed a possible sinus infection.  My question:  CAN A PERSON WHO HAS A LOT OF MUCUS IN THEIR SINUSES AND IS A HEAVY NIGHT DROOLER HAVE SJORNES SYNDROME.  ISN'T IT TRUE THAT PEOPLE WITH SJORNES USUALLY HAVE PROBLEMS WITH DRYNESS IN THOSE AREAS?

Sjogren's does seem like a stretch considering the amount of drooling you describe. Dry mouth is the hallmark of Sjogren's. Unfortunately, I don't have any good suggestions of what it might be. I will say that given your test results, in my opinion, it seems unlikely to be autoimmune.
