Natural Hypo Help?

by pep88, Nov 09, 2007 10:29PM
Has anyone tried any herbal "boosters" to offset some of the effects of the hypothyroidism to the end of RAI/I131?  Today I went to the natural market here and got some Siberian Gensing and Dandilion root extracts and some Yerba Matra tea/coffee substitute.

I took all as directed when I got home and felt a bit better today than yesterday!  (My seventh day on my way to hypo hell...) The Gensing for the energy of course, and the dandilion root for the swelling/puffiness (a natual diuretic), and the Yerba Mate for an additional coffee uplift and some mental clerity later in the day.

Anyone know if any of this is in any way contra-indicated or recommend anything else that could help?  I'd love to know...

Thanks!

I have no idea because these herbal substances are not regulated by any responsible organizations.

Someone in my archaeology class made a beet soup recipe from the 18th-century and within seconds of drinking it I was in serious distress. I asked "WHAT is in this?" and besides beets dandelion was a major ingredient. I later discovered that dandelion allergy is very common.

These "natural" things are not necessarily safe and any positve healing effect they would have overnight is probably psychological.

Best to  speak to a doctor or pharmacist about what exactly it is that they do.
