Darvoset addiction in nusring mom

by Nancy333, Nov 10, 2007 08:55AM
I have a friend who is nursing her 5 month old baby and she takes 4 Darvoset a day. The baby vomits her breast milk constantly. The Mom says the Darvoset doesn't go to the baby through her breast milk. I 'm worried about the baby. Help!

After my cesareans, the doctor prescribed me vicodin, I expressed concern for my baby that I was breast-feeding, and he told me that the baby will probably receive 1% of the medication I was taking.  I didn't abuse vicodin (at that time), and took it as it was prescribed.  I think... Are you being judgemental?  Does she have a legitimate pain problem?  I know your only concerned, but look it up on the net.  The vomiting may not have anything to do with the meds she's taking, or it may... sorry I wish I could be more help, but I can only suggest researching it.

Good Morning.

Your friend is wrong about the Darvocet going into the breast milk. It does.

I don't know what to tell you to do. SHE needs to do something but apparently she isn't listening to you. Try talking to her again. Sit her down and talk to her calmly.

Good Luck and let us know how she is doing.

I know the percentage baby gets from breastmilk is minimal. I doubt the vomiting is from that.  My son was a puker!!!!!! He did the projectile vomiting thing after almost every feed and I was on no drugs at the time!
