Spot on face for 7 years please help what is it?

by vic_e, Nov 12, 2007 08:31AM
Hello, i have had two small very red spots on my face (cheek) for over 7 years. I'm 23 and i have tried lots of different creams to try and get rid of them. i'm not entirely sure what they are - maybe a broken capillary, scar, pigmentation?? They are slightly raised, with a small dark red pin ***** of colour and then red around the area. Any help of what they might be and how i can get rid of them would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi Vic,

Sounds like a broken blood vessel which can be removed but commonly done by laser surgery. There is a company called S:KIN who specilise in this kind of thing, I would say it would cost a couple hundred pounds.

Hi,

This could be an allergic reaction to some unknown substance or dermatitis or eczema or due to sweat or friction.

You should consult your doctor to rule out a fungal infection, tinea corporis or some bacterial infection. The further treatment and plan of management would depend on the confirmed diagnosis.

You need to wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites.

Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene .

It would be advisable to consult a skin specialist for your symptoms and a proper clinical examination.

Let us know if you need any other information and post us on how you are doing.

Regards.
