Discharge but doesn't fit any specific diagnosis'

by meol, Nov 12, 2007 09:26AM
I've had an ongoing issue for a while now. I went to the doctor because I was having white (sometimes off white yellowish/brownish) discharge. I wasn't itchy and there really wasn't a bad odour at all. She checked me for STDs and  a bacterial infection. nothing.  They suggested I try a new brand of the pill. So I did, waited about 3 months and not really any change. I want to go back to the doctor but am very uncomfortable because I recently moved and the only doctor I could get was a male and I am not at all comfortable with that.

Now sometimes it is itchy and sometimes has odour. Also am getting slight pain during intercourse.
Any advice other than the obvious that I should really go see a doctor?

i have almost the same thing as you , i went for and STD and HIV test because i had really horrible smelling white sticky discharge , literally all the time ,  i had no itchiness or pain or anything but its horrible and embarassing but they found nothing wrong with me, most STD tests dont sest your Bacterial vaginosis wich isn't an STD its caused my a natural increase of bacteria in your vagina, this is what i had , its treatable with antibiotics , but sometimes comes back maybe you have that??  hope this helps x

Whitish/yellowish discharge is totally normal. A strong odor, on the other hand, is not. Ally_cat could be right. Maybe it's BV (Bacterial Vaginosis). It would cause a strong odor, usually "fishy" smelling.  It's easy to diagnose and treat, though, and it's not necessarily caused by intercourse, so don't be embarassed. If you think that's what it is, ask your doctor...I'm sure he deals with BV all the time. It's fairly common. Good luck!
