My husband had aortic valve replacement (metal) in 2000. They are now considering implantation of a defibrillator. We thought he was going to get pacemaker, but they decided it was too risky as it would have to be attached to his ribs or inserted near his ribs, but he could have the defibrillator. He has no record of arrhythmias, but has bradycardia. I'm looking for info about whether implanting a defibrillator with a metal valve has any negative impact. We were anxious for the pacemaker as it would have helped his shortness of breath, but we are not so certain if he can only get the defibrillator. Thanks for any response. maryfran0086
