would a chest x-ray show an enlarged aortic root?

by marcie12, Nov 13, 2007 09:08PM
I have several symptoms indicative of Marfan syndrome and I am worried about possible problems with my heart.  I saw my GP because of chest pain 18 months ago and he did a chest x-ray and said it was clear.  Would the x-ray have shown a dialted aortic root ? Or is that only visible on an echocardiogram?

An x-ray won't show a dilated aortic root.  You would need an echocardiogram or a CT scan.  Good luck.
