scleroderma and liposuction

by picasso13, Nov 14, 2007 08:54AM
I am in my early twenties and I have been diagnosed with localized since the age of 16. I am in good health, as far as my scleroderma goes. I have no intestinal problems, just tightness of skin on parts of my body and my fingers. I have been considering liposuction and fat grpahing. Lipo of my abdomen and fat graphing to my butt. I would like an open minded and honest opinion on the nature of my situation.

Surery is performed successfully on patients with scleroderma to correct deformities from this disease.  I doubt that liposuction will be a problem for you.  The success of fat grafting depends on the viability of the transferred fat cells and the ability of those cells to obtain vascular nourishment in the area injected.  There may be some risk that fat grafting will not succeed if there is a problem of vascularity in the buttocks area from your scleroderma.
