atibiotics and late period

by wonderwoman51, Nov 14, 2007 12:12PM
ok so my cycle right now is 40 days...four days ago i took a pregnancy test at night and it was negative..took one the next morning and it was negative. the day before my last period started (oct. 5th) i was diagnosed with a uti and given 3 pills of bactrim. i took them as prescribed and all was well after that. my period started oct. 6th. ok so now im wondering if those antibiotics that i took could be the reason why my period is this late. ive looked all over the internet for its side effects and it hasnst said anything about delaying a period everywhere ive looked..could it be that the antibiotics is making my period late? any help is much appreciated!!!

Generally antibiotics won't affect your period. Perhaps you should put a call into your GYN. Sometimes periods can be late for no real reason, but just to be safe, consult your doctor on this situation.
