Not Moving

by Amy409, Nov 15, 2007 02:49PM
I am nineteen and a half weeks pregnant, and I never feel my baby move. There is maybe two times where I thought I felt the baby move, but I was never sure. Could there be something wrong with me or the baby?

Is this your first? If it is then that's completely normal. You can try eating something, or drinking orange juice or something like that and lay down and wait for about 20 minutes and see if he/she will start moving and maybe then you can feel it. But a lot of women don't feel the baby move at this point in the pregnancy, should be soon though!!

There was another girl who posted a couple of days ago that she hadn't felt her baby move and I think she was in her 21st week.

If you are expecting your first baby you can expect to feel your baby for the first time between 18 and 24 weeks gestation. If this is not your first baby you can expect to feel your baby a bit sooner than you felt your first. This is usually said to happen because you know what you're feeling for and your uterus is more stretched out than it was the first time around.

So nothing is wrong with you or your baby..Not everyone feels their baby move around the same time.
The time when you really should start worrying if you're not feeling your baby move is around 27 weeks plus!

This happened to me with my 4th also.  I register for this particular website each time I'm pregnant.  Anyway, I was like 20 or 21 weeks pregnant.  I went to my regular appt. and that is always one of the standard questions my doctor would ask me.  "Baby moving okay"?  I said no, not really.  See according to this website, she should have had regular patterns of movement by this point.  So he scheduled me for another ultrasound.  It was normal.  And it wasn't long after that that she was moving all the time.  She more than made up for it.  Food causes a lot of movement with babies also.  Try eating and then laying down.  Pay close attention then.  See if this helps.  Mine are always very active after I eat.  When was your last Dr. appt.??  Was the heartbeat okay??

my last appointment was one week ago. The heartbeats were okay.
