tumor in right cpa

by cfstumm, Nov 15, 2007 10:07PM
I recently had an MRI because I've been having dizzy spells daily and a 2.7 X 2.6 X 1.8 cm lesion in the right cerebellar pontine angle cistern was found. The report says the mass is apparently eroding into the petrous apex. The neurosurgeon said he thinks that it is either dermoid or a fatty tumor but it is in the bone and he needs a CAT scan. He said that unless the tumor is eating away at the bone he will probably want to monitor it for a while. Although, my neurologist said that it is large and he would recommend removal. My insurance only covers one consultation so I'm not sure if I should check with another doctor or just wait and see. If you have any knowledge of this type of tumor I would love to hear more. Everything I've found online are medical journals and have not been terribly helpful. I have ringing in my right ear and dizzy spells. So far these are my only symptoms but I am getting dizzy every day.

Hi,

Since you are having dizziness daily and also experiencing tinitus (ringing in ears), it is advisable to take a second opinion do discuss surgical intervention. Also, get a CAT scan done at the earliest.
