2nd Heart Attack in 34 months

by DonnaLH, Nov 16, 2007 05:28PM
Hi, My name is Donna and my question is regarding Plavix. After my first heart attack Christmas Eve of 2004, I was put on Plavix along with other heart medications. After 2 years with no cardic episode, my insurance took me off Plavix, which I thought was ok because I felt good and was doing fine. Ten months after being taken off the Plavix I had my second heart attack and 2 of the 3 stents I had put in were 80% blocked again. This time the doc restented the 2 stents and said next time I would have to have bypass surgery. My main blockage on the first one was 2 that were in my right coronary artery. Total I had 2  70% and 1 100% blockages. At the time I had just turned 50 three weeks eariler. Could going off the Plavix have added to the reblockage. My current doctor says that I have to be on it "forever". Now 3 weeks out again I am having alot of shortness of breathe and get tired easily. My father died at 63 of a massive heart attack and both his parents died of heart related problems. I have heard of a medication that helps with the genetic side of blockages (I can't remember the name) should I be on that along with Plavix. My GP also told me to start taking niacin to help bring up my good cholestrolol. I am not over weight, I am 5'4" @ 126. So I don't understand why this is going on. I have been very depressed this time unlike the first one when I bounced back with zest. Now all I want to do is cry and stay in bed. Am I the only one that feels this way?
