help - 2 M.D.s holistic doctors say

by Applecore, Nov 17, 2007 10:04AM
Two M.D. holistic doctors say according to their tests that I have celiac disease and the nutritionist that I went to yesterday said their tests were not sufficient to say that.  She said she had not seen test like I had before.  I had 16 vials of blood and a very gross stool test done - result showing I was allergic to almost all that I eat.  I have hashimoto hypothyroid disease and just this week show in the normal range.  I posted on the thyroid forum looking for someone that has stomach pain as a symptom from thyroid or does anyone know if this is a symptom of celiac.  I haven't eaten peanut butter in a long time and I just stuck, not thinking,a peice of peanut butter fudge in my mouth.  It wasn't 10 minutes later that I started having anxiety and funny feelings in my body.  Do you think it could be from the peanut butter.  I am really stuck at this point as to what direction to take.  Should I go back to the holistic doctor or should I go to a G.I. gastrointestonal doctor and have the biopsy taken and the right test (whatever they are) taken to determine if I have this disease.  Please help if you can -  anything information would be appreciated or experiences.  linda

I have (or should I say "had") an intolerance to gluten, but I do not believe I have Celiac disease. An intolerance to gluten (and alcohol)  is common in patients who have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and other health conditions. My physician did the blood test for Celiac disease and it was negative. My doctor told me this: why in the world get a biopsy done and go through all of that... when we already know what the treatment is ? So I just quit eating wheat and now I'm able to tolerate wheat again.. I believe, because of the protocol I'm currently on.

I know that many people who have Sjogren's Syndrome and people with autism also do better on a gluten free diet.

As far as your food allergies, I have a couple but nothing like the ones you listed. I have CFS and we are like magnets when it comes to allergies... I have environmental allergies and some chemical sensitivities as well. People with chronic illnesses, IMO, are prone to other health conditions. With your doctor's blessing, I would consider trying homeopathy to cure your food allergies. I would also look into sublingual therapy.... from what I understand, sublingual therapy has been used in Europe for decades and the drops are safer than the allergy shots. I believe sublingual therapy is now in the U.S. --- I'm not sure whether they have drops though for food allergies, but I believe it is worth looking into.
