Toddler with possible soy allergy???

by Bridtrl, Nov 17, 2007 11:35AM
I have an allergy to soy.  Last night my vegan in laws fed my son an assortment of foods, all of which he's had, including a shake made with soy milk and peanut butter.  He fell asleep immediately after getting home, and slept over his usual time.  We went in to get him and he immediately had 2 bowel movements, then he vomited the juice we had given him.  He's not himself.  He's cranky.  He has eczema, and it looks the same, but he has new blotches on his forehead.

I thought it was unusual that he didn't react sooner, but it is the only thing I can think of that could cause it.  Thanks.

It could be the soy which is a common allergy (but not usually visible in toddlers until after age 5) and it could more likely be the PEANUT BUTTER!!! Which can cause a dangerous allergy!!!

Hi,

Little people may have occasional difficulty in digesting foods. This is especially true in cases where loads of food of all varieties are fed. They may throw up or pass it out in stool, and there is usually no cause to worry. this may be accompanied with sleep and behavior changes and there is little to be worried here.

Nonetheless, try and find out if soy was the cause, I say so because its better to find out and record such things early in life. perhaps, the doctor can help and also the blotches need to bee examined. If that is the allergy or the eczema has increased.

Keep us posted and let us know if you may need more inforation. Give the child some simple food in the meantime.

Best regards
