My mother has MYLEOD DISPLASIA (please excuse spelling). She was given the diagnosis 4 years ago that she would have only up to 8 months to live. Well obviously she's still here. She has been taken procrit shots for the last year off and on. nothing more. Her memory is not very good and battles severe diarrihea. In the past couple of weeks her stomache has become very bloated and has 2 lumps at the lower stomache. Drs feel those are hernias but don't feel there are any test she can do to find out what the bloatedness is from. Her stomache churns very loudly after she's eaten. Her platelets are around 30 and her hem.is around 10. If we stop the shots it can dip down to 8. We're not sure how to go about taking care of her anymore without answers about the stomache. Any suggestions?
Thank you

Your mother should consult a gastroenterologist to identify the cause of her stomach pain and bloating.
An endoscopy and an ultrasound scan should give a pretty good picture of what is going on, and your doctor can then plan the next course of action.
I am glad she is responding well to Procrit.
