Major Depression

by 1010, Nov 20, 2007 07:41PM
I've been depressed for almost (or more than am unsure) 2 years...
I also got Hypersomnia (or Narcolepsy don't know the right *name*)...
I can't wake up early even I'm the earliest to sleep!
Unless I REALLY want/need to wake I can't.
And I feel like losing my memory... unless it's normal
that the only things one will remember in the past are either
those so sweet and funny, or that so bad and embarrassing;
then I might be wrong.

HELP ME please.

Hello there.Have you had your thryoid checked?     a wonky thryoid will give you these symptoms.
Also are you in therapy and on meds? It would benefit you greatly especially the therapy. you are not alone. we are here for you.I will look for your post to see how you are. you are in my prayers.

Hi Venora.

I never checked my thryoid because I never had any problem with it.
But in the past I often got tonsil but that I think isn't really related to thryoid ...?
I'm not in any therapy. I don't know whom to seek for help.
I just feel unease going to our local government hospital...
I wanted to directly see a specialist/doctor but it's impossible to do that here unless 'somebody' recommends me... if you know what I'm saying.
I just don't know if I'm really depressed.
Cause I heard memory loss and sleep disorder can be due to depression but in the meantime Hypersomnia/Narcolepsy can lead to depression.

Only God knows how thankful I AM to YOU.
Thanks.

get your thyroid checked It is always wise to rule physical reasons for our symptoms. then maybe after that is ruled out you can get a referral for a head doc ok. Let me know what happens.

Hey I'm so surprised!

I got 9 out of 11 of the adult symptoms of Hyperthyroidism as listed at http://www.eMedicineHealth.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=58776&pf=3&page=1#Thyroid Problems Symptoms. Actually 10 but I got no Insomnia (can't sleep) -- it's Hypersomnia (can't awake). The 11th symptom is eye enlarging... I do own quite a big pair of eyes but that's how God made it for me! [just chilling out :)]. But the eye-related problem I got is when sleeping my eyes close *improperly* or kinda one-third closed only.

Could it really be Hyperthyroidism?

And to you Venora:
I really never ever thought of my thyroid! Not even once. Very much thankyou to you!!!

Regards from 1010 (TynTyn = "Teen-Teen").
P.S. I was to write "thyroid" but I saw Venora wrote "thryoid" so I followed her as English isn't my mother tongue. Sorry... :)

Sorry for the late reply. I was VERY busy with my health problems plus troubleshooting my old antique desktop PC.

I've done a thyroid check Venora. And the doctor said nothing's wrong...

So what could it be now?

And I actually got new symptoms... it's been almost 3 months I'm having dry cough. Now it sometimes comes with stubborn sputum though - but still I consider the cough as dry. It happens usually in the evening after I take my shower bath.

Is it a sign of anything like asthma or pneumonia?

Thanks at 1st place!

Oh I forgot to mention.

I also don't know if I'm really losing my appetite or maybe it's just normal for a former 95% vegetarian to now become a true vegan?
