stretches after a Herniated lumbart disc

by ykwaik, Nov 21, 2007 08:37AM
When does one start stretching after a herniated lumbar disc (L4-5) that has pinched the Sciatic nerve on the right side???  All of my pain is in my right leg all the way down to my foot.  My symptoms with Sciatica started 6 weeks ago and I have been on Motrin, pain killer (first 3 weeks), an oral pack of steroid ( for 6 days, two weeks into the initiation of symptoms), and one epidular injection of Methyl Prednisone ( at 4 wks after the symptoms started).  My symtoms are very much improved now and my pain level in my Butt muscle and above my ankle is 2-3 (10 is max) compared to 8 when my symptoms started.  I never had back pain.  I have been able to walk for ~ 1 mile/30min in the past few days.  I am schedueled to start physical therapy of weight lifting in a couple of weeks.  When do I start streching to strengthen my abdominal and back muscles?  Thank you.
