Growth on penis. Very worried.

Dr:

I am 30 years old and. for the past 5 months or so, I have had a small (size of a needle ball), single, raised, flesh-colored, non-shiny, bump/growth on the shaft of my penis. It does itch or burn or give me any sort of pain. It does not have a dimpled center, which I have read is characteristic of molluscum. It is not particularly hard or 'cauliflower-shaped' like I have read is characteristic of HPV genital warts. I have been sexually active over the past couple years and I do try to use protection. What could this growth be? I am very worried over this and not getting any work done in my attempt to self-diagnose. Thank you. I have taken pictures with my camera phone which I could always send to you via email.

Thank you.

This could be a solitary molluscum, or it could just be a cyst.  Either way, it doesn't amount to much, since even many if not most mollusca are not transmitted sexually.  But you can't diagnose yourself, no matter how much you read on line.  Please see a doctor in person, so you can stop worrying and do what has to be done--if you have to do anything at all, which you probably don't.

Take care.
