Intermittent urninary incontinence?

by caryatid, Nov 22, 2007 12:24PM
I've been leaking urine when laughing, sneezing or coughing, worse on some days than others, and with increasing severity, over the past six months.  I've never had this problem prior to now. It is annoying, disturbing and embarrassing.  Help?

Here's some history: I am 43 yrs old, widow, no full-term pregnancies, 2 preg terminations, at age 37 and age 41.  STD tests were negative, pelvic and abdominal CTs normal although pelvic phleboliths observed. I have a 1cm x 1cm lump on anterior vaginal wall, Gyn MD found it 20 months ago, I had transvaginal and pelvic ultrasounds, all normal, repeated 12 months later, lump hadn't changed.  My periods have been irregular for the past 2 years. Gyn MD did endometrial biopsy, all normal, Pap normal.  No pain, no discomfort, all is well other than incontinence. Control high b/p with Lisinopril 10mg bid, normal lipids, CBC, CMP etc.

THis sounds like stress urinary incontinence. GEt an evaluation by a urogynecologist or urologist, and they can do a simple office test to see if you have this problem, and they can also offer you some options for correcting it.
