Essential tremor

by asc01, Nov 23, 2007 01:55PM
My late mother had very severe essential tremor, affecting her hands, head and voice.  Her mother had it moderately.  I appear to have inherited it mildly, but it is worsening at present.

I cannot tolerate beta blockers and am on multiple other medications for depression and blood pressure/cholesterol/heart.  Does anyone have experience with other medications?

Other medications that are used in the treatment of essential tremors include anti-seizure drugs, tranquilizers, and even Botox injections.  However, all of these have their specific indications and not without known side-effects.  You should consult your neurologist on what alternative medication would be best suited for your condition.
