Colon Cancer - Please Help!

My father in law was diagnosed with Colon Cancer, by the time we discoved it he was already at Stage 4. He recently had a colostomy. Before he had surgery his nutrition index was 9. He had the surgery on 11/09/07 and was expected to leave the following Wednesday-Thrusday (11/14-11/15). After the surgery he had a 101.4 fever for 2-3 days. He was also experiencing alot of pain so he was recieving the morphine as well. In the few days after the surgery his nutrition index went down to 3. He was bought in for another CT scan and they found that his wound wasn't healing properly and also had an infection inside as well. Another surgery was performed on 11/15/07 for the infection. After surgery the fever subsided, as well as the pain. He looked much better, so they took him of the morphine the following Monday ( 11-19-07), when they took him off he felt immense pain so they shot the morphine into his stomach. He still wasn't able to eat for the next few days, he threw up a few times, and was very weak. His white blood cells are high, which indicates he has another infection. He also had a 102 fever yesterday. The doctors rans more test and they said he has a blood/yeast infection, and the wound still isn't healing properly. The doctors said that his nutrition is still very low at 9 because his body won't accept the nutrients. He's been in the hospital for over 3 weeks. He's getting weaker and weaker everyday and the doctors have not really offered a good solution. We don't know what we can do. Do you think something went wrong during the first surgery? Or perhaps the surgery wasn't formed as well which is why the infection happened? We cannot just sit and wait. ITs been too long. Please offer some advice. I really appreciate it and thanks for all your help.
