Physician Incentives From Insurance Companies

by Pushing50, Apr 26, 2007 12:00AM
How prevalent are financial incentives to physicians from insurance companies these days?  I've read that some insurance companies either offer financial incentives if the physician keeps costs down by not ordering lab tests, etc.  I suspect this is the case with my physician.  Would I be crossing an unwritten line by asking him?

Probably... but perhaps your physician crossed even a larger unwritten line.

That is exactly why I started going to a teaching hospital...to avoid the "golf over patients" type of doc.
