Bleeding at 7 weeks 3 days pregnant

by miracle70, Nov 28, 2007 09:29AM
Hi
Please I am 7weeks 3 days pregnant and bleeding for about 3 days now; it gets heavy sometimes with tiny bits of clots and sometimes bright red. Went for an echography yesterday Nov 27th and the doctor wasn't so sure of what he saw but said imcomplete abortion , that we needed to go for an evacuation of the rest. I took my first urine this morning to the lab and it still tasted positive. Does it mean I am still pregnant; am trying to get a hold of the doctor so I can visit, to take some precautions. Please advice me on this.
Thanks

Hello,

It sounds like you have a missed abortion, meaning the pregnancy is not viable, but your body has yet to pass the pregnancy or complete the miscarriage.  At your gestational age this can be managed waiting and allowing nature to take its course, inducing a miscarriage with medication or undergoing a dilation and curettage.  Your doctor can advise you on what may be the best option for you.

And yes, you would expect a pregnancy test to still be positive, but this does not mean the pregnancy is or will be normal.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing
